Lil’ Dragons Breathe Fire

The Pontypridd Lil’ Dragons (Kickboxing) Academy, who train at Pontypridd YMCA, have recently completed their Fire Awareness sessions. The final session was a visit to Pontypridd Fire Station.

The Lil’ Dragons were very excited when Coach Nick Clarke announced that they will be visiting the Fire Station when they had completed a series of ‘tasks’. The tasks included awareness sessions on Fire Safety and what to do in a fire situation. They also discussed smoke and smoke alarms.

The Officers at Pontypridd Fire Station gave an excellent presentation about the equipment they use to tackle fires and other emergencies. They also had great fun with the Lil’ Dragons, allowing them to use the hoses and sit in the Fire Engines.

Nick Clarke was very grateful to the Officers for the time they spent and their patience when talking to the Lil’ Dragons. ‘The Officers spoke very clearly for the children to understand but at the same time gave them some very important messages about Fire Safety. The visit was very worthwhile and helped me enormously.’

Soon the Lil Dragons will be completing Stranger Awareness, Health and Anti Drugs sessions as part of their programme. Nick Clarke explained ‘Although we are teaching Martial Arts principles, our classes offer much more than that. The Life Skills aspect is a major part and the Lil’ Dragons learn while having great fun.’

The Lil’ Dragons Academy is specially designed for ages 4 – 7 and anyone interested in joining the academy should call 0800 977 5820 for details.

Give your child the edge in life!
